My senior thesis project entails identifying a problem and using graphic design techniques to solve it. The project involves conducting research, creating a brand identity, and finding a main component with a unique value proposition. Overall the project aims to provide a creative and effective solution to the identified problem.
While planning my trip to Miami for a long weekend, I encountered a frustrating problem: I couldn't find a mineral sunscreen that met my specific needs. I was looking for a sunscreen that not only provided clear and easy everyday coverage to my face but also had a conscious approach towards the environment and could be conveniently carried during travels.
As someone who values clean beauty products and strives to adopt more sustainable practices, I was surprised to discover that no product out there fulfilled these requirements. I had initially hoped to find a spray bottle that offered easy application, was safe for sensitive skin, and was light enough to be used over makeup. But to my astonishment, such sunscreen seemed non-existent in the market!
This realization served as a catalyst, and I knew right then and there that I needed to address this issue and educate individuals about the benefits of using a mineral sunscreen as opposed to a chemical sunscreen. I made a decision during my senior year that my thesis project would focus on solving this problem.
